| Description : | One of The Chinese Stars blood oaths is to Get your booty shakin¹ out of its pants on each and every track. It was this almighty and fearsome art-funk that attracted Artrocker on seeing the band's 2003 London debut. Formed by Craig Kureck and Eric Paul formerly of cult Providence band Arab on Radar with Richard Ivan Pelletier formerly of the legendary Six Finger Satellite. Paul Vieira's scratchy, insistant guitar stabs were the unknown quantity whicn have now usurped Aaron LIARS Hemphill's best. The Chinese Stars brilliantly utilize their influences: The Birthday Party, Chrome, and Gang of Four but also include a bastard dance oriented sound reminiscent of P.I.L., The Pop Group, and Daf. They are based in Providence, Rhodes Island, USA within a healthy scene of uncompromising sounds like The Sightings or Lightning Bolt.This, their second UK/European tour in as many years accompanies their first release on Artrocker records, a double A 12' single featuring two piledriver replications of their live groove. It features - 'Cheap City Halo', 'The Girls of Las Vegas'. Last year they released a debut 5 track CD EP called 'Turbo Mattress' on Skingraft Records to widespread critical acclaim following the demise of their much lauded Arab on Radar incarnation. | |
