| Description : | Grammy award winning guitarist Henry Kaiser is best known for his work with such well-known musicians as Jerry Garcia, Herbie Hancock, Wadada Leo Smith, Richard Thompson, and his 'world music' project with fellow guitarist David Lindley, 'A World Out Of Time'. He has provided soundtracks for several Werner Herzog films and has appeared on over 250 releases! Guitarist Ray Russell is considered one of the earliest free jazz / noise-electric guitarists. He started is professional music career, landing the position of lead guitarist for the John Barry Seven, best known for its music for the James Bond films, when he was only 15! His late 60s and early 70s work is revered by musicians such as Thurston Moore, Jim O'Rourke, Keiji Haino and others. Since those years, he has established himself as a top studio musician, appearing on albums with Tiny Turner, David Bowie, Robert Plant and many others. After 40 years, The Celestial Squid is Ray's return to his roots as an 'out' guitarist, along with Henry and 8 additional musicians, including Michael Manring (Michael Hedges), William Winnant (Sonic Youth), Steve Adams (ROVA Sax Quartet), Weasel Walter (Lydia Lunch) and more! | |
