| Description : | Most recently spotted on the mighty Holy Mountain imprint, Aufgehoben turn their attention to Riot Season for their latest outpouring of experimental noise rock. Anno Fauve is an arresting combination of ear-perforating distortion and avant-garde-ism with the raw, crunching fury of fully formed metal. The album sounds rather as you'd imagine a Napalm Death improvised jazz LP (if such a thing can even be uttered), or perhaps more accurately given the length of these tracks, about twenty-seven Napalm Death jazz LPs, all played consecutively. The quieter, more punctuated sequences are often reminiscent of Faust at their most abstract, but only when the band pull together as a single raucous unit do they truly reveal their power, entering into Boris vs. Merzbow levels of viciousness. | |
