| Description : | With a band name presciently stripped from the headlines, the term 'dead cat bounce' denotes a small and brief recovery in the price of a sinking stock (as in 'even a dead cat bounces'). Featuring four saxophones plus upright bass and drums, the group has been in existence since 1997 and this is their fourth album. Truly a gem of an ensemble, their music is an original blend of many things from the jazz tradition and the present and ultimately they have the feel of the World Sax Quartet with a rhythm section that swings like Mingus! Utililizing four saxophones, double bass and drums, Dead Cat Bounce's music is very accessible and swingin', while also looking forward musically. This is their first release on a label who will give them a full promotional push to hit all jazz radio and all jazz print and online media. | |
