| Description : | Hamster Theatre are co-led by multi-instrumentalists Dave Willey and Jon Stubbs, with reed player Mark Harris, guitarist Mike Johnson, drummer Raoul Rossiter, bassist Brian McDougall and a number of other guests. This set includes their new studio album as well as a second disc of a live performance from 2002. Hamster Theatre straddle the edges of folk music; avant-garde; 'world' music; early 20th century French composers, such as Erik Satie and Maurice Ravel; contemporary composition and many other musical forms, bringing together elements of all of these styles, while never sounding 'just like' any one of them. Their songs are always filled with delightful melodies and surprising orchestrations. | |
