| Description : | The Danish trio Sumi consists of Sune Borregaard (steel pans & loops), Mikkel Sorensen (guitar & loops), and Rasmus Riis (Rhodes & loops). The trio's starting point is a musical openness with ample space for experimenting and pursuing spontaneous ideas. The three musicians manipulate the sounds of their instruments with various effects, and the result is a wide and nuanced soundscape. Sounds and pieces of melody are recorded during performances and used as loops and detached samples. These elements along with the members' different musical backgrounds have resulted in a beautifully intuitive album where no musical style is defined, but where melodic fragments converge into expressive sound collages.
