| Description : | In 2017 some musicians from Lyon (France) who took upon themselves to name their band after a city they had never set foot in, released their first LP 'Ceiling Coast'. Think of a fantastic stampede, of guitar riffs pouring fire, a release of affamished harpies quenching themselves from your suffocating wounded soul, thus, leaving you exhausted, confused, and yet captivated as if you had awoken from Walpurgis night.
After a set of tour dates engraved in the public's memory, the trio had to reluctantly set aside their fantasy of musical stakhanovism, getting caught up in the vile necessity of earning their lives, usually, quite an unfulfilling task. They finally got together whenever possible, and jammed in a state of frenzy, exalting dull day to day life into forbidden chords, singing new characters or an ultimate rythmic mischief, giving life to a new record. But the process would take some more time as each track would be shaped with new refinement. Until then the public was used to get hit with more raw material. In the same manner YANN VAN EIJK produced their album once again but this time, deprived of a cude trim ; instead he induced an enlarged scope to these songs, thereby enhancing every spark of their multi faceted core. From SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES' arrogant grace, to BLONDE REDHEAD's melodic yowling skills by way of LIVE SKULL's abrasive tracery, then as a whole, caught in a vice of twisted jazz sound on speed, an impromptu black metal lava flow and news from the ukrainian front through drum beating, the band, in a tracking shot with contrasted narrative, propels us from an icy cave to a desperate climb up Mordor only wearing a pair of Crocs. In 2023 we receive 'Tricky floors' as depicted on the album cover : turning our back on this rotten to the core of a world, finding bliss in a salutary ego dissolution, facing a work of art that shines like a sick sun and frantically transcends the sum of each of its parts. | |
