| DESCRIPTION |
| | TROTSKI NAUTIQUE Sampleur et Sans Reproche Label : Cheap Satanism Records Year : 2026 Format : CD Style : Rock / Electronics Availability : In stock
Price : 10.40 € - BUY
| | | | | Description : | Now a trio consisting of DAVID SNUG, ALDA LAMIEVA, and MARIUS ATHERTON, Trotski Nautique from Paris continue to claim the 'French Touch' label—not without irony—and present this new album as their 'twenty-eighth opus,' a 'simultaneously playful and tender work on sound dynamics with a warm and wonky naivety' (on the 'Intro' track).
This isn't entirely false, nor is it entirely true. What is more certain is that their music continues to blend minimalist electronics (based on old synthesizers and open-source gears), wordplay that is either pathetic or devilish depending on your taste, and personal opinions that, if posted on X/Twitter or Facebook rather than sung, could spark 300-post debates in three days.
The album poses some pointed questions:
- Is PHILIPPE KATERINE, even when naked and painted blue, essentially working for LVMH (the luxury industry)?- Is NICK CAVE just the Australian JEAN-LOUIS AUBERT—a 'televangelist with his tie and slick black hair'?- When walking, are we obligated to like the people we pass?- Writing a CV: when there's a will, there's a way, but... what if there is no will? Do you end up as roast veal?- And the death penalty: pro or con... for Humanity?
Since the only social network where the trio is active is the largely deserted Mastodon, Trotski Nautique is more likely to face a dance line at their concerts than a digital shitstorm in response to their sarcasm.
However, it is very important to emphasize that this isn't just 'squeaky' music meant to illustrate 'silly' lyrics. While there is an undeniable 'spontaneous vignette' quality, the music constantly recalls early synth-pop—specifically those French post-punk bands that were already blending sarcastic lyrics with catchy loops from bizarre-sounding instruments.
In short, 'Sampleur et sans reproche' is not an album of boisterous knights, but rather one from a trio of mischievous entertainers who are less like jesters than they appear.
